My career, my art
I have been involved in art and design longer than I can remember. Before the word “design” entered my vocabulary I recall driving with my family and pointing out signs that I was sure I could improve.
My 25 year career in graphic design started in 1976, long before computers claimed the field. I established my independence first in Pittsburgh and followed impulse to relocate to LA, NYC, DC, Maine, and Rhode Island.
I retired from the hustle of the design and graphics realm shortly after arriving in Rhode Island. Now I live in Oregon (since 2019.) But I never stopped cutting and pasting. I still have the urge to juxtapose imagery, form, color and language to a surface. My work has evolved dramatically from literal surrealist vignettes to abstract expressionism. I make collage and paintings as a means of channeling a thought or feeling that I can’t articulate through thought or speech.
